I have been practicing Agile for 17 years and have been providing Agile training and consulting for over 7 years. I have experienced, with my clients, the growth and maturity if their Agile programs and have seen some common themes and challenges that they all face along the way. In the graphic above you can see one of results of the VersionOne's annual survey. The question they asked was "What are the challenges you have experienced adopting & scaling Agile." My observations are similar and if you have been practicing Agile for a while, they may seem familiar to you. You may not face these challenges in this specific order, it will depend upon your specific situation. I offer resources to address these challenges, but regardless of the solution provide you choose, you should be pro-active in improving your Agile maturity.

What language is IT speaking? |
SolutionEducate Team Members and Stakeholders For more than half of my customers, only the IT department attends the training and even then, it is mostly managers, technical leads and senior developers. Everyone in the company needs Agile training to understand this new "language" you are using, but more importantly to understand the role of the business and stakeholders. I understand that classroom training is both an investment of time and money so if you are unable to send people to training, then I suggest you try some of my on-demand training. | How Agile are we? |
SolutionPerform an Agile Assessment It is important to understand how "pure" your Agile implementation is, especially from the perspective of your Agile teams. If you divert too far from Agile best practices, you will lose your high-performing team members to other organizations. High performing teams are happy, more motivated and more productive which is great for both the individual and the organization. I have a robust free assessment for this purpose to give you measureable way to assess your Agile maturity. Resources |
| Does my company understand Agile? |
Get Organization Buy-in It is relatively easy to start that first Scrum team, but once you start to grow your program you are going to run into what we call "organizational impediments"
